Tommy H: Sorry ATM only, store purchase are called check card purchases, because the debit card takes the place of a check. If your account is still overdrawn they will take money out of your savings to cover what you owe in checking, just to let you know.

doglover: Debit cards are linked only to checking accounts. You wouldn't be able to use the savings account linked part to make purchases, only to withdraw cash from an ATM. Make sure they didn't take any money from your savings account to cover O/D fees,

kiwikes777: Hum, Ive never know the WaMu card to be linked directly and ONLY to the savings. Usually the card is linked to the Checking and you can get a certian plan that links your saving to your checking.
It also depends on weather its a Visa Check/Debit card.
If your checking is closed you will not be able to continue to purchase using your card. If it is just over drafted then you may be able to purchase BUT every time you "Overdraw" meaning everytime you make a purchase AFTER your account is already overdrawn, then you will have to pay and over draft fee, I believe that WaMu's is like $20.00 per overdraw transaction. ie - if you are over drawn $10.00 and you make 2 purchases the 1st for $5.00 and the 2nd for $10.00 then your total to get you account in good standing would be $65.00 instead of $25.00.
If the card links directly to your savings and is only a Atm/debit card (no Visa/Mastercard Logo) then you should be able to use it at places that take ATM/Debit cards - which are very few.
I would contact your bank as soon as you can to ensure you do not get into more debt also they can work with you to set your account to what works best for you, either way ZI wish you all the best.
Good Luck!
