wamu statement and online savings?
I have had a wamu 'statement' savings account for a couple of months. Just applied for the online checking & savings account for the higher apr. When i log in, i have checking, 'statement' savings, and 'online' savings.
Is it possible to combine them or close one of the savings account? Like, possible transfer all of the money from my old 'statement' savings account to my 'online' savings account and go to the local branch nearby to close the 'statement' savings account?
It says i can change the names of the accounts, so, does it matter which one i close? And, if I only keep the 'online' savings account open, can I still use the ATM and withdraw money from that account?

Serge M: You should go to the bank, explain to them what you want, and also ask them which is the best alternative, i.e. which method pays the most interest.

Nicole D: In order to receive that higher interest rate you have to have the online savings( and keep the checking account open) . If you only want one savings account you can close the statement savings either in the branch or call customer service, they can transfer the funds and close the account out. Also when you close the statement savings ask the rep helping you to attach the online savings to your current Debit card that you are using for your checking account. So that when you go to an atm you have the option to withdrawl from checking or savings you can withdrawl from your online savings.
