Gas vs. Quickening question?
Gas vs. Quickening question?
I am around 10 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I know it's a little earlier than most say you should be able to feel movement but I totally think I feel it. It doesn't feel like gas to me at all...and with 3 other children, I'd think I know what it feels like. This is a crazy question but if it was gas then wouldn't it follow with a burp or a fart? lol Anyone else feel their babies move this early?
Answers:
blondie981: YES U CAN FEEL THE BABY AS SOON AS 8WKS.

lovie: gas doesn't always result in it being expelled. where in your stomach do you feel it? if it is WAY down low, it may be quickening. anything belly button level or above is too high to be a baby yet. you supposedly can feel it earlier each time.

Lovin' It: Yup I did and everyone told me it was gas and I often wondered why I didn't burp or fart after I felt it...then I felt my baby moving when I was having my ultrasound done so now I KNOW that's what it was. I've only felt it 3 times, but I loved it! Especially with having other kids, I think it's totally possible you can be feeling your baby doing sommersaults in there =D
Congrats and good luck.

Baby on Board!!!: I'm with you and everyone thinks I'm crazy and keeps telling me that is has to be gas and that it cant be the baby...but I feel it everyday once or twice a day and I know it's not gas!!! I felt it a few times around 10-11 weeks and at around 12 weeks started feeling it daily. I'm currently 12 weeks 5 days and I have a dr. appt on Jan. 3rd so I plan on bringing it up with my dr. and she if she thinks I'm crazy as well...Good Luck

Lola: Not necessarily. You have 26 feet of small intestine, so it takes a while for gas and bowel to move around in there. There are some parts of your intestine that are twined or twisted (which is natural) and that is where most people feel gas movement, is in the bends. When the intestine is straight, the gas and bowel move smoothly with little motion.
A lot of people feel pain during constipation around the upper left side of their abdomin, fearing it's liver problems, but this is where there is a U turn bend in your large intestine, so if you have a heavy, thick or large bowel, it hurts to pass through this section.
Hardly anyone can feel their baby this early. Some women feel cramps or twinges or stretching. Although your baby does move, it's hardly noticeable.
I assisted in an ultrasound for a woman who was 10wks and the baby was kicking and punching the probe and the mom couldn't feel a thing.

TD R: I highly doubt at 10 weeks you can feel the baby move, the baby is only about 3cm long. take a look at a ruler and see how small that is. Most likely gas and your digestive system.

may08mommy: sometimes gas can just be moving around through your intestines or your stomach. it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to burp or fart immediately after you feel it. there is a slim possibility that it could be the baby but I highly doubt it. I felt mine move at 16 weeks and my doctor thought I was crazy that I could feel it that early.

alicia m: I felt my baby move very early on, and everyone kept telling me it was gas....... but i knew it was the baby. Because i have had bad gas my entire pregnancy so i have definately gotten acustomed to what that feels like. and in my experiance yes gas does follow up with a burp, fart or a trip to the potty. With this being your 4th child i imagine you would know what your body normally feels like when your pregnant. go with your instinct..... feels funny doesn't it?

Shiningami_Gurl: Well I started to feel my little bubble at around 12 or 13 but I just delivered my last in April 2007...but even then I didn't feel it very often. Mainly when I was REALLY still and looking hard. I think 10 weeks is too early. And no gas doesn't always end with a burp or a fart.
